DIY Fashion!

My 9 year old fashionista has officially entered the world of fashion design.  This is her first "piece".  Of course, it's Tie Dye!  Where else would you start?

She created this little masterpiece using her school color and a ton of rubber bands!  The embellishments on the collar add just the perfect touch for my fancy little lady.  Please post a comment and tell her how much you love her design!

THIS vs THAT?!?

Being an avid shopper I've come across quite a few "deals" that have raised a brow.  I thought I should share one of the more recent ones with you all.  I was searching for a pair of yellow ballet flats for my daughter to wear with a super cute pair of shorts she picked out.  I wanted something simple and didn't want to over spend.  I found the perfect pair of eyelet ballet flats at J.Crew Kids, but the price (specifically the original price) blew me away.  Then I recalled seeing a similar style shoe at RUUM American Kid's Wear.  So of course, I headed right on over to www.RUUM.com to make sure I wasn't mistaken, and sure enough there they were... a cute little pair of eyelet ballet flats in yellow for less than half the price!

This is one of those moments that reminds us to slow down when we're out shopping and really take note of the things we see.  It also reminds us to not just grab the first item that catches our eye, but rather to shop around for the perfect bargain, style or shade.  Perhaps, those adorable pair of flats at J.Crew were just the shade of yellow you were hoping for.  But if you were like me and just searching for a cute yellow flat then you'd certainly be glad you shopped around!

Happy Shopping!

Good Finds!

Ever come across a deal that's just too good to pass up?  That's happened to me more times than I can remember.  Sometimes I find myself debating if it's even worth it since the pieces I find are often so much larger than my kid's current sizes that it seems it would be a lifetime before they'll ever grow into them.  Then I think hard about how much I'll pay for that same item next year in a different color that may not even be as cute as this one and usually I end up saying - I'll take it!

That's why I was pleased when my daughter got dressed for school this morning and was wearing this darling skirt I found several months ago at Justice (www.shopjustice.com).  She has such a tiny frame that I often struggle to find things to fit her waist but also fit her lengthwise.  This skirt which has an elastic waistband and is a size 7/8 was no different.  I was going through her closet this week pulling out this to take to the seamstress to have taken in and I came across this skirt that looked like it wouldn't be so hard to do myself... so that's what I did!  Now, I'm no seamstress by a long shot, but I did manage to take in this skirt just enough to fit her little waist and send her off with a smile.

She happened to have a cute little navy top embellished with bows and sequins also an old find from Justice to wear with it that matched perfectly.  I don't recall an exact total (that's how long it's been), but I'm willing to estimate that this entire ensemble cost me less than $15.  Score for Mommy!!!

I think I did a pretty good job and luckily she agreed.  Here's her OOTD which she'll proudly be wearing for her Author's Tea at school today.

Please share some of your good finds with us!  We'd love to see the adorable pieces you've picked up for a steal of a deal!  And if you're usually one that usually refuses to buy an item to hold onto because it's just way too big or it's not in season... You may just want to rethink that next time!

Feeling Floral!

Charm's outfit of the day featured the cutest pair of floral printed shorts ever!  We got them at +RUUM American Kid's Wear during one of our many shopping trips there and paired them with a sheer Tiffany Blue button up top and some matching sunglasses also from their spring collection.  She completed the look with some purple jelly sandals (which are a must have staple for spring and summer) and a cute studded bow from Claire's.  She even added one of her favorite pair of flower earrings for the perfect touch.  :)

Here's a closer look at the darling shorts which come in a variety of colors and patterns.

She left for school this morning feeling and looking fab!

A New Look at Cotten Tees

For a unique look on a slightly breezy Fall or Spring day consider layering a button up top (denim, solid or print) with a basic cotton tee.  It gives an edgy look without the bulkiness of a sweater.  Plus it's a perfect alternative for little ones who complain of itchiness anytime they're in the same room with a sweater! :)

Complete the look with a pop of color at the bottom.  In the images shown Charm is wearing a denim top from GAP Kids (www.gap.com) , a basic cotton tee from Justice (http://www.shopjustice.com/girls-clothing/our-favorite-long-sleeve-tee/8656712/603), a pair of raspberry ponte pants from +RUUM American Kid's Wear.  (http://www.ruum.com/ruum/detail/ponte-pant/C310B09001?colorToDisplay=Raspberry%20Jam&fromSaleRefId=&fromSaleNav=&fromSaleFacId=&saleCatId=&srcCatId=&sSale=&flowCatId=) and a pair of ballet flats also from Justice (www.shopjustice.com).
