Beauty is More Than Skin Deep.

I saw this video as an ad on YouTube and just had to share it.  It deals with something that means so much more than fashion.  It deals with self love.  It was so touching to me because I cannot count the number of times I have heard a little girl say to Charm "you're so lucky to be skinny" or "I wish I was small like you".  It breaks my heart to think of what conversations must be taking place at home for a child to feel as though she isn't perfect just the way she is.

I had one parent to tell me that she didn't think little girls should be too confident.  I was in shock, because I can't imagine anyone (regardless of their age) having too much confidence and self worth... as long as they aren't looking down on others, of course.  The line between confidence and conceit isn't very thin at all.  There is a huge difference.

Not only do I encourage both of my children to love their bodies and take care of them because they only have one, but I also remind them daily of how beautiful/handsome they are.  In addition, I'm always conscious about the things I say about my own body when they are around because I know that they are always listening.  Self love is inherited.

The way a girl feels about her beauty starts with how you feel about yours.  -Dove

If you enjoyed the video as much as I did, please share it and share our blog as well!  :)

Sun Shiny Day!

Hello beautiful people!!  We're having some beautiful weather here and I'm taking full advantage when picking out my OOTD (outfits of the day).  As I go through last year's images I can see my style gradually evolving.  I guess my taste is maturing a bit.  Though I'm still very much enjoying being a kid!  :)

Here's a really cute maxi dress my mom picked out for me at +Crazy 8.  I paired it with a little denim shrug I got from one of my favorite boutiques in Japan to avoid being sleeveless at school.  I'm thinking when it gets a bit cooler I'll pair it with a white denim jacket.

Ready For the Class RUUM!

It's no surprise that I chose to do most of my school shopping this year at +RUUM American Kid's Wear and also no surprise that their new fall line didn't disappoint.  With an array of styles and the season's must-have prints there are options for everyone... and for those like myself with a style for various fashion trends there are lots to chose from!
Moving away from the typical basic denim jeans and flashy tops, I had a lot of fun with the many printed pants.  A bold printed bottom and solid top is a nice twist and just my style.  Here are a few of my favorite pieces from the season.

I love statement pieces and these pants are just that.  They both pair well with simple tops or fancier tops if that's your taste.  I chose to keep it simple.  Though, I did pick up a really cute top to go with the wide leg pants for when I want to switch things up.

I have to add that it is insane how comfortable these pants are!  If it weren't for the strict dress code I'd wear these to dance practice!

Not stopping there, I also found several pairs of skinny jeans in different colors and prints.  They have something for everyone with prints ranging from floral to camo!  Here's a shot of some super cute ones I found in cotton candy (pink).  I love that +RUUM American Kid's Wear has Super Soft Skinny Jeans in slim fit.  I have a hard time finding jeans to fit me due to my small frame at times because if they fit my waist they're usually too short (and I end up either cuffing them in the summer time or wearing them with boots during the fall or winter months).  However, the jeans at +RUUM American Kid's Wear fit me PERFECTLY!!!  I tried on about 6 pair and I loved (and bought) them all!!  {Thanks, Mom & Dad!}

Here's a couple shots of me wearing the cotton candy skinnies along with a cute graphic tee, embellished sneaker and headband.  I only wish the sneakers on my t-shirt were in the store as well!

Of course, I have tons more to share, but I will have to do a haul so stay tuned for that.  In the mean time, have a wonderful school year, learn all you can and enjoy every moment!  Don't forget to follow my blog and share it with all your friends!

DIY Fashion!

My 9 year old fashionista has officially entered the world of fashion design.  This is her first "piece".  Of course, it's Tie Dye!  Where else would you start?

She created this little masterpiece using her school color and a ton of rubber bands!  The embellishments on the collar add just the perfect touch for my fancy little lady.  Please post a comment and tell her how much you love her design!

THIS vs THAT?!?

Being an avid shopper I've come across quite a few "deals" that have raised a brow.  I thought I should share one of the more recent ones with you all.  I was searching for a pair of yellow ballet flats for my daughter to wear with a super cute pair of shorts she picked out.  I wanted something simple and didn't want to over spend.  I found the perfect pair of eyelet ballet flats at J.Crew Kids, but the price (specifically the original price) blew me away.  Then I recalled seeing a similar style shoe at RUUM American Kid's Wear.  So of course, I headed right on over to www.RUUM.com to make sure I wasn't mistaken, and sure enough there they were... a cute little pair of eyelet ballet flats in yellow for less than half the price!

This is one of those moments that reminds us to slow down when we're out shopping and really take note of the things we see.  It also reminds us to not just grab the first item that catches our eye, but rather to shop around for the perfect bargain, style or shade.  Perhaps, those adorable pair of flats at J.Crew were just the shade of yellow you were hoping for.  But if you were like me and just searching for a cute yellow flat then you'd certainly be glad you shopped around!

Happy Shopping!

Good Finds!

Ever come across a deal that's just too good to pass up?  That's happened to me more times than I can remember.  Sometimes I find myself debating if it's even worth it since the pieces I find are often so much larger than my kid's current sizes that it seems it would be a lifetime before they'll ever grow into them.  Then I think hard about how much I'll pay for that same item next year in a different color that may not even be as cute as this one and usually I end up saying - I'll take it!

That's why I was pleased when my daughter got dressed for school this morning and was wearing this darling skirt I found several months ago at Justice (www.shopjustice.com).  She has such a tiny frame that I often struggle to find things to fit her waist but also fit her lengthwise.  This skirt which has an elastic waistband and is a size 7/8 was no different.  I was going through her closet this week pulling out this to take to the seamstress to have taken in and I came across this skirt that looked like it wouldn't be so hard to do myself... so that's what I did!  Now, I'm no seamstress by a long shot, but I did manage to take in this skirt just enough to fit her little waist and send her off with a smile.

She happened to have a cute little navy top embellished with bows and sequins also an old find from Justice to wear with it that matched perfectly.  I don't recall an exact total (that's how long it's been), but I'm willing to estimate that this entire ensemble cost me less than $15.  Score for Mommy!!!

I think I did a pretty good job and luckily she agreed.  Here's her OOTD which she'll proudly be wearing for her Author's Tea at school today.

Please share some of your good finds with us!  We'd love to see the adorable pieces you've picked up for a steal of a deal!  And if you're usually one that usually refuses to buy an item to hold onto because it's just way too big or it's not in season... You may just want to rethink that next time!

Feeling Floral!

Charm's outfit of the day featured the cutest pair of floral printed shorts ever!  We got them at +RUUM American Kid's Wear during one of our many shopping trips there and paired them with a sheer Tiffany Blue button up top and some matching sunglasses also from their spring collection.  She completed the look with some purple jelly sandals (which are a must have staple for spring and summer) and a cute studded bow from Claire's.  She even added one of her favorite pair of flower earrings for the perfect touch.  :)

Here's a closer look at the darling shorts which come in a variety of colors and patterns.

She left for school this morning feeling and looking fab!

A New Look at Cotten Tees

For a unique look on a slightly breezy Fall or Spring day consider layering a button up top (denim, solid or print) with a basic cotton tee.  It gives an edgy look without the bulkiness of a sweater.  Plus it's a perfect alternative for little ones who complain of itchiness anytime they're in the same room with a sweater! :)

Complete the look with a pop of color at the bottom.  In the images shown Charm is wearing a denim top from GAP Kids (www.gap.com) , a basic cotton tee from Justice (http://www.shopjustice.com/girls-clothing/our-favorite-long-sleeve-tee/8656712/603), a pair of raspberry ponte pants from +RUUM American Kid's Wear.  (http://www.ruum.com/ruum/detail/ponte-pant/C310B09001?colorToDisplay=Raspberry%20Jam&fromSaleRefId=&fromSaleNav=&fromSaleFacId=&saleCatId=&srcCatId=&sSale=&flowCatId=) and a pair of ballet flats also from Justice (www.shopjustice.com).

Step into Charm's RUUM this Spring!

RUUM American Kid's Wear is a fresh new brand for kids.  It's one of Charm's favorite places to shop, and because the company was just founded in 2013 it is also one of our best-kept fashion secrets!  She loves the fun, bold, trendy pieces and I love the cute, comfortable, durable clothing and shoes at affordable prices.  Their new spring collections for girls (adorably named Luminescense, Arizona Dreams & Sweet Street) boasts bright vivid colors, fun prints, bold verbiage graphics with hints of sparkle and shine.

Charm and I both were equally impressed when the new spring lines were launched online at +RUUM American Kid's Wear, however, when we visited the store (at The Mall of Columbia) we were completely wowed!  Here are a few of the outfits and accessories she just had to have!

First up... Charm is wearing a trendy sheer pocketed top with cuffed sleeves (which can also be worn as a long sleeve blouse).  She has a it paired with a pair of super cute cuffed denim shorts, a slim leather belt, and an adorable pair of cotton candy colorblock classic sunglasses to add the perfect pop of color with the coordinating jadite and pink!  No outfit is complete without the perfect pair of shoes and this looked was complete with pair of brown western booties.

Next...  Charm is styling in a pair of pale blush Aztec skinny jeans, a neon peach tank and basic denim jacket cuffed perfectly for spring.  She also completed this look with the brown western booties that she simply adores!

The New Wave, Sundance & All American Collections for boys are just as hot and trendy, so by all means... if you have a little fellow - stop by +RUUM American Kid's Wear
Also, please tell us what you think about these looks and others you find at RUUM!  Happy Shopping!

WILD about FASHION!!!

WILD about FASHION!!!

Is your little diva wild about fashion?  Is she in love with animal prints with a splash of color?  Charm is all over animal prints this season.  They're one of her many fashion faves! Here she is showing off a few of her favorite pieces.

These fun leopard leggings from Gymboree were a must-have the moment she saw them.  They can go with so many different looks.  Here she's wearing them with a coordinating top.  She thought it was super cute that the girl on her top was wearing a leopard print sweater PLUS she was walking 4 of the cutest puppies.  What little girl doesn't like puppies???  :)

While browsing at Gymboree we also found this awesome leopard top with a cute pink bow.  Though we won't quite pair it with the leopard pants (because we're not THAT crazed), the top definitely makes a statement on it's on.  A pop of color at the bottom is a fun twist to an old favorite and of course these hot pink velour leggings were a perfect match!

Another fun fashion twist for a great fall or winter look is shorts.  (Yes, SHORTS!)  These cheetah print bubble/balloon hem shorts were one of our many Japan boutique finds.  During the cool months she loves to wear them with bold or neutral tights.  Here she is going bold with her favorite pop of pink.  The half top (which also came from one of our favorite Japanese shops) has a wild animal print as well.  The look is complete with a pair of brown boots.
